Halloween and Graphic 45 Treasures and Trinkets

JULY!!!! I have really been busy the past month and a half!  A little travel and lots of projects!  Wow the time has really gotten away from me.  But fall is here and with it comes back to school, football and cooler weather.  We're particularly thankful the cooler weather in Texas!

This is a the September Graphic 45 challenge I just finished.  I used their new and gorgeous Happy Hauntings paper.  The challenge required I use an upcycled item, but I used several trinkets to accomplish this.

I upcycled a pair of children's sunglasses for the "B" in Boo, a green net veggie bag, a zipper pull , an earring and the foil from the top of a wine bottle.  Can you find all 5!

I do more layouts with Graphic 45 than projects.  There are many gorgeous ways to use the beautiful papers.  Visit their website to see all of them.

Birdsong is the next collection I am going to work with.  It has a distinct Asian/Oriental design that is so pretty.

I'm headed to Washington D. C. next week so hopefully I'll lots of Treasures to scrapbook when I get back.

Thank you for stopping by, please do come again and remember: LIVE THE LIFE YOU LOVE AND LOVE THE LIFE YOU LIVE

Tom Holtz and Little Treasures

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY WEEK!!

I hope all of you are planning a wonderful
holiday to celebrate our Nations Birthday!
Coming in the middle of the week only
gives us one day off but  we plan to make
the most of it.

I 've been working on mini albums and
that's why I call them Little Treasures.
This one uses lotsof Tim Holtz do-dads
as well as his paper and his d-ring
 binder. Here's the finished album.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Here is the chipboard cover.  I used
Tim Holtz ResistPaper and tinted it with
his Peeled Paint Distress Ink.  I love the
resist paper. I embossed the chipboard
bicycle with Rusty Nail Embossing Powder
(not Tim's) and it gives it a metal look.
Then a crumpled and distressed "Dream
Ticket" from his collection, a bingo piece, a
couple of metal pieces and a zipper pull.
The Rosette is, of course, Tim's
"Rosette Dye."

This is the inside cover, more resist paper,
a little envelope & tag, some bakers twine
 and another ticket.

I used Barn Door Distress Ink on
this page.

Another distressed Ticket,  Metal Cogs,
a Charm and a couple of zipper pulls,

Here is the d-ring binder.  So easy to use.
I didn't think I'd like being limited by the
small rings, but they worked great!  My
album is 5 and 1/2 " high by 7 and 1/2
inches long.  You can easily make your
album taller using these.  I'm going to
make my next one 9".
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
(Side-bar.  The little brads
flew out of the package when
I opened it and I could only find
one of them.  So I had to use
a non-Tim brad.  His are a little
smaller and silver to match
the d-ring!)

ZIPPER PULLS

TREASURES:  as in ONE MAN'S
TRASH IS ANOTHER..........You know
the rest.  I found a 2 qt. jar full of them at a
garage sale.  What a find!  I use on everything,
even flower centers, kind of Steam Punk
meets Shabby Chic. And, if I don't use them
all they'd make a great door stop!

Thanks for stopping by, please come
again and have a blessed day.

Treasures and Pinterest

Who among us doesn't love Pinterest?? I have to admit I'm somewhat addicted. I saw a quote several months ago that I thought worthy of a plaque but I filed it in the back of my mind doomed to be forgotten.

Miraculously, I not only remembered it last week but it came with an epiphany of how to create it!  If you've read my bio, you know I love beaches & beachcombing.  I collect shells with a vengeance. ( Don't get between me and my shells ;-) !)  I stash them in bags, boxes, jars, bowls, drawers, and bottles and display them everywhere. Along with the shells I've clipped pictures of things made of or decorated with them.  So, I was excited to say the least when this little project started coming together!

DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!!

"WASH YOUR HANDS AND SAY YOUR PRAYERS
JESUS AND GERMS ARE EVERYWHERE"

I spray painted an old silver tray gray, (although now I wish I'd just left it tarnished.)  I trimmed a piece of scrapbook paper to fit inside the rim, printed the quote on velum and glued it on top.

I had bought a shell lantern at a garage sale so I deconstructed it for the shells around the border. I hot glued other shells, sand dollars and tiny roses around the edge and added bling here and there for some sparkle. I am going to let it live out it's life in our guest bath!

Now pull out those ideas from the back of your mind and bring them to life.
You'll get a great sense of satisfaction!

Trending - Our Men & Women in Uniform

Happy Memorial Day.  I'm sure you have all kinds of plans ranging from backyard cookouts, picnics and water sports to a relaxing day scrap booking.

While we're having fun with our families and friends please let's remember our military as they put their lives in harms way to keep us free - a prayer, card or a thank you to someone you see in uniform would be much appreciated.

But let's not forget the real reason for Memorial Day is to honor those who have fought and or died in past wars.  The most forgotten are the veterans from the Viet Nam conflict.  So no matter what war is commemorated on a veterans hat or t-shirt  let's thank him and shake his hand!

WE ARE MEMORY KEEPERS has a wonderful new line out for the 4th of July that works great for the military too.  A beautiful assortment of papers in red, white and blue and some of them are shiny and glittery. And there areots of stickers, journaling tags and embellishments.  If you haven't seen this in person, find the store nearest you and check them out.  It's a beautiful collection!

I hope you all have a safe and fun holiday!

I'm so glad you dropped by.  I always have the coffee on.

And ALWAYS live the life you love and love the life you live.

Trending - Smash Books

For awhile I thought Smash Books were on their way out.  Then I discovered there are Baby & Wedding Smash Books.   So I'm thinking they're going to be around a while longer and I'm super excited!!

When I think of a journal I think long laborious musings that are deep and profound or emotional and morose written by a melancholy soul.   Or the pink book with a lock I had as a teenager that was full of dreams, wishes and teen aged angst!

I got my first Smash when they first came out because, well, because  I wanted to be on the cutting edge of scrapdom. Didn't quite know how to fill it so I searched the web and low and behold!  I'd done this very thing as a kid.

Save your tabs, tickets, stubs,  feathers, shells, ribbons, maps, brochures, snippets of touresty things and anything else that makes memories for you.  Just be sure to save room for photos.  Because they're meant to be a quick way to create memories, you can journal as much or as little as you have time for about the event. Let your ephemera tell your story.

I'm already planning how to expand my Smash Book for a trip we're taking to D.C. in the fall - fold outs and waterfalls maybe??

If you haven't gotten one of these little Treasures, you should.  Stare at it awhile, decide on one thing to Smash and once your creating mojo starts buzzing, you won't know when to stop!

Gotta go for now, thanks for stopping by.  I'll put the coffee on next time.

Remember to love the life you live & live the life you love :-)

TREASURES

Mini albums are little treasures that make a big impact!  They're all over the net, in craft stores and scrapbook stores.  Crafty people are creating them to fit their event.  I've loved making them for a long time now.  What is more intimidating than staring at a blank 12x12 page?  What is NOT intimidating is a 6x6 or 5x7 or any size page you wish to make it.

I love glitter and bling and adore Shabby Chic.  So my albums have a lot of embellishments ~ pouffy embellishments!  I use pockets and tags to get more space for journaling and pockets to hold more pictures.  I cram a lot of trinkets in these albums and get them finished in a day or two, unlike several of the 12x12 albums I have yet to finish :-/  This is one I put together for a fund raiser for a friend who is walking for the Susan G. Koman "Race for the Cure."  My scrapbook store, Scrappin' Goodtime, held the event and the little book got raffled off.

The paper is "Sole Sister" by "Imaginisce."
Its 6x6 and the "Cinch" by We R Memory Keepers
was used to bind it. Two crystals hang from the
binding with a Tim Holtz idea-ology "Corked Vial"
with a ticket in it.
Envelopes trimmed and covered with paper hold tags.

"Dear Lord..." Stamp by Stampabilities
"Let's go shopping....." Stamp by American Art Stamp

I like to think outside the box and scrap outside the book.  The more stuff that hangs
out the happier I am - because - that means I managed to fit more in than was intended!
Since I any pictures to fit, I left the pages simple for whomever won it.

Have you ever gone jewelry shopping for your scrapbook??  If you haven't hang around.  I'll show you some things I've done with old jewelry that puts the Chic in Shabby!!

Thanks so much for stopping by,
Please come back, maybe I'll sweep next time!

Trending

I'M BACK!  There have been gremlins in my blog for the last 2 weeks and I haven't been able to post. I still have some issues, but I guess it's new blogger-itis and I just have a lot to learn.  I sure wish I'd hurry up!!

There have been so many things going on in the last two weeks.  First of all were the Valentine's cards to be made and mailed. Did you get yours out super early??  I hope y'all got your fill of chocolate and smelled lots of roses ;-)  I had a Valentine's card class at my local scrapbook store that was a lot of fun.  I had some tips for the girls and they had some for me.  That's what I love about scrapbooking, everyone shares great ideas that makes our creative juices flow even faster.

So trending now are several new CRICUT CARTS  I've been wanting to share with you.  Here are the February releases and if you haven't already seen them, they look like a lot of fun.

There are more boxes on the cartridge than shown above.

This is the follow up to the popular, but retired Tags, Bags, Boxes and More.  This Cricut cartridge comes with a new feature.  It has the ability to score your project before you even cut it out!  How cool is that!  A scoring blade is being sold that will work with this cartridge and more in the future.

This cartridge also has some really great tags, cards, envelopes, word art and skinny word art to use with the new gel pens Provo Craft is coming out with.

And how cute is this cartridge?  Even it's name is fun!  It has some great word art and garden  images.  It has  bees and cute bee sayings, for all of you bee lovers out there.

Then last but not least:

I think this is a darling cartridge that also has a font.  It would go great with The New Testament cart.
~~~~~~~
 I'll try to get the March carts up sooner!
So glad you stopped by.  Come again, I'll have the coffee on and remember to
